During the 2025 Danny Rumph Classic, Team Harper was the final team standing.

Fast forward a year, and Team Harper was battling it out in the Women’s Showcase Championship for the second consecutive time. Instead of picking up another title, Team Harper was on the other end of the scoreboard as Team Copper erased a late fourth quarter lead for a 62-61 overtime win.

Ashley Jones had the chance to snatch a win and did just that, driving for a layup in the closing seconds, and yelling “AND ONE” after it fell. Team Harper got its chance for a win, but Britany Hyrnko never got her shot off as the final buzzer sounded.

After cruising to a 50-point win on Saturday, Team Copper looked to establish that same dominance early against the defending champs.

That didn’t happen with  Hyrnko, pacing Team Harper. The 2024 MVP used her speed to get past defenders with ease with five quick first-quarter points. Then her touch vanished and Team Copper took full advantage.

Kamiah Smalls and Azana Davis jumped on the lulled Team Harper defense. The tandem had 10 first half points each and helped Team Copper snatch a four-point lead.

Then it became the Taylor O’Brian Show.

The guard did it all, with nearly half of her team’s first-half points, 18 in the first 20 minutes. Team Copper threw the kitchen sink at her on defense and it didn’t matter. The guard formed a connection with guard Alisha “The Bosses Daughter” Lewis, who dished out six first-half assists to give Team Harper a 35-34 halftime lead.

So, entering the second half, Team Copper became simple: Stop O’Brian.

They matched up Jones on Team Harper’s leading scorer and the switch seemingly worked with the guard scoring just two third quarter points. Instead of the offenses showing out, which got Team Copper into Sunday’s championship, the defenses anchored down.

Lewis and Nadjy Tyler were the playmakers on offense with nine and six second-half points, respectively, as Team Copper searched for a scorer. They got that in Davis, who MC Ghee-Funny nicknamed “The Female Paul George”, and whenever Team Copper had the ball, it was given to Davis, who went to work.

And that she did.

After entering the fourth quarter down  50-46, a layup in the final minute got the score within one. Lewis’s deep three-point dagger was off the mark and it was off to overtime. There, O’Brian found her form. The former Bucknell guard finished with 27 points and helped pad Team Harper’s advantage.

But it didn’t matter as 2026 Co-MVP’s Jones and Davis ended the deficit. Davis finished with 19 points and five rebounds while Jones had 13 points of her own and, most importantly, the game-winner.
