Team Chuck Ellis brought reinforcements in Day 3 victory

Montrezl Harrell, Lou Williams, and Sindarius Thornwell took the court for Team Chuck Ellis Workouts against a Blue Magic team who were down a man and still almost got upstaged by Tywain McKee.

Harrel and Williams traded rim rattling dunks in the first, building a massive lead that would hold off Blue Magic’s second half comeback, winning by a score of 86-77.  A win is a win, but after going into half up 47-24 the second half performance from Chuck Ellis Workouts left much to be desired.  Blue Magic’s Tywain McKee popped off to the tune of 37 points on 10 threes to will his team back into the game.

McKee went on a personal 10-0 run. A four-point play followed by two three pointers, then on the next possession drew the defense and found his teammate Mike Cuffee for a triple.  Quickly Chuck Ellis Workouts’ lead evaporated from 25 to 8.

Momentum had swung completely in Blue Magic’s favor when one of their players got caught by an elbow going up for a rebound and had to be removed from the game.  In a normal NBA game, no problem, but today at the Rumph Classic, Blue Magic only came prepared with five players.

After Blue Magic had caught fire and narrowed the gap to single digits, they had to play a man down. Chuck Ellis Workouts’ played the rest of the game on a powerplay and kept an arm’s distance the whole way out. Heckles from the crowd couldn’t convince Chuck Ellis to level the playing field to four-on-four. A major ‘what if’, as Blue Magic very well could have stolen one from the talented Chuck Ellis Workouts. Chuck Ellis Workouts takes on PF Workouts in a rematch for a spot in the tournament semi-final.
