Team Chuck Ellis Workouts will be advancing to the Rumph Classic final after a dominant first half performance opened up the game in Sunday’s semi final, eventually closing out a 114-62 win over Team Rumph Center.
Ellis’ squad will take on Team Rex 6 in the tournament’s final Monday night.
Thanks to a 3-point shooting barrage from Marcus Thomas and Dionte Christmas, Ellis’ squad turned a 2-point game into a 40-point game by halftime and seemingly never looked back.
The reigning champions Rumph Center struggled to contain the up-tempo, high-flying style of play from Chuck Ellis Work. They hit 100 points with seven minutes to go on the game clock and with 1:50 remaining, both teams agreed to call the game early.
Thomas led all scorers with 30 points on eight triples. Christmas wasn’t far behind him with 19 points and five three pointers.
Montrezl Harrell chipped in 26 points with his fair share of highlight jams.
Shannon Givens did his all in attempts to crawl Rumph Center back and make the game competitive, slicing and dicing into the lane. He finished with a team-high 26 points.
The deciding factor in Sunday’s afternoon matchup was Chuck Ellis Workouts’ ability to dominate at both ends of the floor. They couldn’t miss from the perimeter and they made life very difficult for the reigning champs at the other end of the floor.
Ellis’s group and Team Rex 6 are slated to face off Monday at 7 p.m.
