Team Chuck Ellis advances to semifinal

After kicking off the Rumph Classic with a narrow one point loss to PF Workouts, Chuck Ellis called in reinforcements and they did not disappoint. Chuck Ellis Workouts got their sweet revenge and pulled themselves out of the losers’ bracket riding their stars.

For NBA fans it’s a rare sight to see Montrezl Harrel running point, but in both games Saturday, Harrel stepped up as a guard to lead Chuck Ellis Workouts to a 71-59.  Harrel wound up with 29 points, not playing his typical big man game and extending his range.

Harrel only had two threes in the game, but they were absolute game changers.  Up 8 with just over six minutes to go, Harrel brought the ball up the court and the defense left him open at the top of the arc.  Big mistake.  Harrel calmly pulled up and swished a three. The next possession came around and PF Workouts clearly didn’t learn. Another Harrel triple followed by a Nate Pierre-Louis and-1.

Malcolm Richardson did his best to recreate his earlier performance, but even his 23 wasn’t enough. The interior defense of Harrel was far too much in the second half. Chuck Ellis Workouts will be taking on Rumph Center tomorrow at 2 p.m. for a spot in the championship.
