Day two of the 17th annual Danny Rumph Classic opened up with Team 8EYE topping Team Pierre Forte Workouts, 80-72. The loss for PF Workouts (0-2) eliminates them from the tournament. 8EYE (1-1) will play tomorrow at a time to be determined.
PF Workouts started the game on a 13-2 run, but 8EYE responded, dominating the rest of the first quarter and entered the second frame with a 23-18 lead. 8EYE remained strong after their big spurt, leading for the remainder of the contest.
Khalif Wyatt of 8EYE was named the Player of the Game, finishing with a game-high 21 points. Wyatt, now an assistant coach for West Chester, played his college ball at Temple, averaging more than 17 points per game in his junior and senior seasons. Joining him in double-figures scoring for 8EYE were former Drexel players Troy Harper (16) and Melik Martin (13) and Maurice Henry (12).
Earl Brown Jr. had a team-high 15 points for PF Workouts, followed by Ja’Quan Newton (13) and Ahmad Gilbert (12).
